Caramel candies as a source of protein and carbohydrates


Caramel candies are classic confectionery item and most adults and children like it. Caramels are rich, chewy and a perfect snack made with whole milk, butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Confectionery manufacturers in India are supplying various caramel products including candies and chocolates across the globe. People like to snacking on them while they are in a movie theater or celebrating any day.

If you want to have a low calorie confectionery product, you can count on caramel candy that has 39 calorie in single piece. However, you need to control its consumption as more candies will give you more calories and make you fat.

Talking about carbohydrates, there are nearly 7.8 g of carbohydrates in small caramel candy. Carbohydrates offer necessary energy for body, yet not all carbohydrates are healthy. Complex carbohydrates sourced from unrefined foods like apples and brown rice are rich source of minerals and vitamins. Caramel is a refined carbohydrate that contains more sugar and little fiber, vitamins or minerals.

In short, caramel candies have fewer health benefits and cannot be a reliable source of potassium, protein or carbohydrates. Confectionery manufacturers in India may consider it a low calorie confectionery item only if it is taken in limited amount.
